Risk Assessment Methodologies

Objectives

Facilitate a closer cooperation, understanding and harmonisation of approaches between different risk assessment specialists in HySafe. Initiate development of best practice, standards, methodologies and similar for risk management of hydrogen applications, including methodologies suitable for determination of safety distances, and input to regulatory issues. Provide input to HySafe BRHS.

Description of work

Risk Assessment Methodologies for Hydrogen Applications The harmonisation and development of risk assessment methodologies for risk management of hydrogen applications (H1 to H6) will be facilitated by arranging a WP12 partner workshop allowing all partners to present their main methodologies and suggestions. This way partners? main contributions and experience for the sub-tasks will be identified, and tasks beyond the first 18 months will be detailed. All V4 partners will therefore contribute:

Sub-task 12.1 Start harmonisation to develop common acceptance criteria as basis for risk assessments.

The work during the first 18 months will be based on existing experience of the subtask partners. This experience will be utilised to identify main gaps and focus areas beyond 18 months. Contributions from DNV, HSE/HSL, JRC, NH and Risų.

Sub-task 12.2. Development and harmonisation of methodologies for risk based determination of safety distances and classification.

NH will initiate and co-ordinate this work with development of methodology for risk based determination of safety distances in cooperation with partners DNV, CEA, FZK, INASMET, INERIS, JRC Risų, and UNIPI. The work for the first 18 months will be based on existing experience. Main knowledge/experience gaps will be identified for prioritisation of focus areas beyond 18 months.

Sub-task 12.3. Detail future work.

All partners will perform a critical assessment of WP12 progress using input from WP7 to detail future activities.
